This is an introductory course to OB and Gyn ultrasound. Most students come with limited experience and are looking for guidance in the basic principles and protocols of obstetric and nongravid pelvic exams. The Gyn course covers: basic transabdominal and transvaginal scanning technique, normal anatomy, common indications, common pathology, and pitfalls. The OB course covers: 1st trimester dating, normal anatomy, 2nd-3rd trimester scanning protocol, fetal heart, biophysical profile, cervical assessment, and pitfalls. Each day consists of morning lecture and afternoon scan lab. You will be able to scan live models at different stages in pregnancy. Our classes are kept small to insure one on one time with an experienced instructor.
This ultrasound training course begins with a basic understanding of venous anatomy and physiology. You will be able to identify and evaluate the lower extremity venous system. Doppler physics and instrumentation will also be covered in depth to teach you how to correctly interpret the information that you acquire during your scan. You will gain an actual working knowledge of how to optimize the Doppler instrumentation to improve your diagnostic and scanning ability. You will learn how to identify venous insufficiency and deep vein thrombosis. Endovenous laser treatment and guidance will be reviewed as well as a follow up protocol. As with all of our educational modules, live scanning sessions will be a part of the course, either in our education-based environment with live models or at your own facility.
