This ultrasound training course is designed for the practitioner that is interested in the nongravid pelvis. We will review normal anatomy of the uterus, endometrium, cervix, ovaries and adnexa. You will gain a practical knowledge of transabdominal and transvaginal scanning techniques. The course includes uterine and ovarian pathology and the importance of duplex ultrasound evaluation. Ultrasound physics and instrumentation will be discussed briefly to explain the workings of your ultrasound system and artifacts. This program is based off the AIUM guidelines. We will also review proper CPT coding for maximum reimbursement.  Should you wish to receive instruction in your facility, we are available to travel to you. Objectives:           

  • Understand indications for pelvic ultrasound exams both transabdominal and transvaginal.
  • Understand image orientation, probe selection, basic ultrasound terminology, and artifacts.
  • Identify normal pelvic anatomy including uterus, ovaries, adnexa, cul de sac and bladder.
  • Understand proper scan protocol.
  • Perform a basic non gravid transabdominal and transvaginal exam.
  • Identify common abnormalities and how to assess them.
  • Review case studies.
